Jimmy Valvano’s 1993 ESPY Speech – ‘Don’t Give Up, Don’t Ever Give Up’

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 20 years since Jimmy Valvano gave this amazing speech at the 1993 ESPY Awards.  If you need some motivation, listen to Jimmy V’s speech, and you’ll never look at your own life the same way again.

Enjoy and make it a great day!

You Will Never Get Really Rich Working For Someone Else

The quote below comes from an article on BusinessInsider.com. While my first reaction to this was, ‘Duh’, the article does offer some pretty interesting statistics:

According to the IRS report, here’s how the top 400 Individual Tax Returns Reporting The Largest Adjusted Gross Incomes made their fortunes (their average earnings in 2009 were $202.4 million):

  • Wages and salaries: 8.6%
  • Interest: 6.6%
  • Dividends: 13%
  • Partnerships and corporations: 19.9%
  • Capital gains: 45.8%

Here’s the most important point to take from the article:

Almost half (45.8%) of the top 400 made their money from capital gains, which means working for a salary won’t make you rich, and neither will making only safe ‘income’ investments.

That’s exactly why I’ve decided to “take a chance” on the programs featured on our site. I highlighted ‘take a chance’ because none of the programs require a substantial investment on your part to realize an incredible return.

If you’re tired of ‘working for the man’ and are ready to start living the life you were meant to live, I’d recommend you at least give these programs a look.

Good luck and have a great day!

Living A Positive Life Is A Choice

I was surfing around the internet today, and I found a story on Upbeat.net that captures the essense of living a happy and positive life. Choices. Whenever something bad happens to us in life, we have a CHOICE of how we’ll react. Will we get mad or depressed and lash out, or will we decide to learn from the situation and keep a positive attitude?

Check out the story from Upbeat.net and see how one man chooses to see the bright side of a bad situation.

Me, Me, Me Is Dull, Dull, Dull

While working this week, I’ve been listening to the audio book, The Millionaire Mind by Dr. Thomas Stanley. If you haven’t read or listened to this book, I’d highly recommend it as it gives a very interesting look into the minds of America’s millionaires.

One of the things he was talking about today really stuck in my head. He was referring to a friend of his who is an expert salesman and a millionaire. When asked about his secret to success, he basically summed it up in one phrase: Me, Me, Me is Dull, Dull, Dull!

What a simple concept… But, it’s amazing how many salespeople, or for that matter, people in general don’t adhere to this principle. How many times have you been called on the phone or approached on a car lot only to have the “salesperson” talk continuously about his or herself and never once ask about you? The same can be said for general conversation among friends, co-workers and associates. How many parties, gatherings or meetings have you been chit-chatting with an associate or friend, and all they did was talk about themselves and never once asked anything about you? Pretty dull, huh…

You get the point. So, I want to challenge you to do something different today. Today, when you find yourself in a conversation with someone, whether it’s for a sales call or just a friendly conversation, don’t talk about yourself. Even if they ask you something that you know you could go on and on about, just give a simple answer and turn the focus of the conversation back to them.

Listen to them. Pay attention to them. Sympathize with them. Be a friend. I promise you, if you’ll start doing this in every conversation you have, you’ll not only start making more sales if you’re a salesman, but your friends, relatives, co-workers and associates will start coming to you for advice, and they’ll view you as a true friend and confidant.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes. Until later, make it a great day and enjoy a little ‘Me’ humor with this video from country music singer Toby Keith!

Stuck in Traffic – Try These Tips To Turn That Long Drive Into A Positive Experience

A friend of mine said something to me yesterday that struck a chord. We were talking about her commute to work and how it takes her between 45 minutes to an hour to get to work.

She said she likes the commute because it gives her some alone time to relax and unwind. In her words, “I just take my time and let everyone else rush by me.”

I started thinking about this, and I came up with some ideas to help you if you find yourself getting too stressed out with your own commute:

  • Motivation – Use the extra time to listen to a motivational or inspirational book on CD. You’ll be surprised how fast the commute will fly by, and you’ll find yourself invigorated and motivated by the time you get to your destination.
  • Learn Something New – Why not listen to a book on CD that will teach you a new language or trade.
  • Catch up with a long lost Friend or Relative – As long as you can drive while talking on your cell phone, this is a perfect time to call someone you haven’t talked to in a long time.
  • Change Your Commute – This is something I do occasionally. It normally works better when going home from work rather than to work just in case it takes you a lot longer than your normal commute. But, it’s amazing how refreshing taking a new route home can be. The change in scenery is a welcome change.
  • Listen to Talk Radio – A lot of people listen to music on their commute. I’m one of them. But, I’ve found that in stop and go traffic, talk radio seems to make the commute go by much faster. You’re more apt to get engrossed in the conversation where as music in my opinion is made for the “open road” so to speak.

These are just a few suggestions. I’m sure you have your own ideas as well. Why not share them with us. What do you do to pass the time during your commute?

Whatever you do, make it a great day!

P.S.  If you really want to make your commute enjoyable, try one of our featured online businesses.  Who knows…  Maybe your commute will be from your bedroom to your home office!  Now that’s my kind of commute!
